The Xiaomi 14 series currently offers four years of OS updates and five years of security updates, which is not as extensive as what some other brands like Samsung and Google offer. It would be great to see Xiaomi extend their update support to at least five years for both OS and security patches.
In terms of software, the HyperOS introduced with the Xiaomi 14 could use some refinement. The experience, while reminiscent of iOS, can feel overwhelming due to the plethora of special settings and features. Simplifying menus, eliminating redundancies, and offering built-in tutorials could greatly improve the user experience.
Additionally, the amount of pre-installed bloatware on Xiaomi devices is excessive. While these apps may help keep costs down, many users would prefer a cleaner, less cluttered interface. An option for a less bloated version of the Xiaomi 15 could be a step in the right direction.
Better battery life is also a key area for improvement. Rumors suggest that the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro may have enhanced battery performance compared to their predecessors. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra, however, could benefit from a larger battery size to compete with other flagship devices in the market.
The Xiaomi 15 series is already generating buzz, with leaks pointing towards significant upgrades in various aspects. While the exact release date remains uncertain, speculations suggest a possible launch in February. If you’re considering waiting for the Xiaomi 15, it may not be necessary as the Xiaomi 14 series still offers a solid overall experience. Alternatively, options like the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 8 lines provide reliable alternatives for those in search of a new smartphone.
