The Find My Device app now offers a biometric login option for faster and more secure access. Previously, users had to enter their Google account password every time they used the app. The app may also soon receive a redesigned tablet UI. The Android Authority team reported in May 2024 that Google was working on a biometric login for the Find My Device app, and it seems the feature is now being introduced. The new login option can be found in version 3.1.173-1 of the Find My Device app, allowing users to log in using biometric authentication or a PIN code. Previously, users had to enter their password each time they opened the app, which left their device vulnerable. This new biometric login feature offers a better balance of convenience and security. Even if a screen lock or biometric option is not set up on a device, the user can still enter their Google account password. The option to disable biometric login has been removed, with the feature now being enabled by default. The app’s layout for tablets may also be undergoing changes, with a new side panel design providing more vertical space for the map display. The side panel is not resizable at the moment, but this may change in the future. The biometric login feature is already available in the latest version of the app, while the updated tablet UI release date is yet to be confirmed.
