High-level investigation demanded by Cong, BJP

Hyderabad: The sinking of some pillars of the Laxmi barrage at Medigadda has given a boost to the Congress and BJP, who had made the Kaleshwaram project a key campaign issue, accusing a large-scale corruption in its execution.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah had also alleged that the project had become an ATM for the ruling BRS.

While G Kishan Reddy, the BJP chief, demanded a comprehensive inspection by the Dam Safety Authority (DSA), TPCC chief A Revanth Reddy in Delhi called for a high-level inquiry into the incident. He claimed that the sinking of the pillars within four years raises suspicions about the use of poor quality materials in the construction of the barrage. He urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Telangana government, and the Election Commission of India to initiate a high-level investigation.
