Current Knowledge and Desired Features

Android 14 made its public debut alongside the release of the Pixel 8 series in October 2023. Fast forward a few months into the new year, and Google has started testing the next iteration of Android – Android 15. The first beta for Android 15 is now available, though it is aimed at early adopters.

Google used to name Android versions after desserts, but starting from Android 10, it switched to using just the version number. Android 15’s internal codename is Vanilla Ice Cream. The current release schedule for Android 15 includes beta releases up until July, with platform stability expected around that time. Following platform stability, the focus will shift to bug fixes and adding new features.

While Google has not yet announced the exact release date for the stable version of Android 15, it is expected to coincide with the launch of the Pixel 9 series, possibly in October 2024. Google Pixel users will be the first to receive the update, with other OEMs following suit with their own customized versions.

Android 15 brings several new features and improvements, including partial screen sharing, satellite connectivity support, notification cooldown, in-app camera controls, universal toggle for keyboard vibration control, sensitive notifications, Bluetooth popup dialog, Auracast focus, High-Quality Webcam mode, changes for continuity features on foldables, better cover screen support, and a persistent taskbar for large-screen devices.
