OPPO Find N3 Flip: An In-depth Review with Recommendations

In the OPPO Find N3 Flip, we finally have a clamshell smartphone that doesn’t compromise on the camera. Despite the smaller cover screen, the combination of a brilliant internal display, solid build quality, and impressive battery life make the Find N3 Flip a great foldable option.

The Find N3 Flip is OPPO’s second-generation clamshell foldable, building on the design of the Find N2 Flip. It features a new Alert Slider, upgraded camera hardware, and various software tweaks for a better foldable experience. Priced at S$1,499, it is slightly more expensive than the previous model.

The availability of the OPPO Find N3 Flip is currently limited, with pre-orders starting in Singapore on October 20. It is expected to be released in the US and Europe as well.

During our testing, we found that the Find N3 Flip is a solid improvement over its predecessor, especially for photographers. However, there are some areas where it feels lacking, such as the limited cover screen and unflattering design. Despite these drawbacks, the phone’s display and camera quality are excellent.

The Find N3 Flip features an improved Flexion Hinge that is 25% stronger and offers a seamless design with minimal display crease. It also comes with a new Alert Slider for easy access to silent, vibrate, and ring settings without opening the phone. The phone is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and has an IPX4 rating.

The front cover screen remains the same as the previous model, but OPPO has made improvements to the software experience. It now supports third-party apps, in addition to built-in tools like weather, timer, camera, and calls. However, the small size of the screen makes it difficult to use for tasks like typing, and app support is not as extensive as some other foldable phones.

The camera setup on the Find N3 Flip is a standout feature. It includes a 48MP ultrawide lens and a 32MP telephoto lens, in addition to the primary camera. The camera produces vibrant and detailed photos, especially in portrait mode. Selfies taken with the primary camera also look great, but the low camera position can be a bit cumbersome.

In terms of performance, the Find N3 Flip offers satisfactory performance for everyday tasks, but it falls behind some other MediaTek Dimensity 9200 handsets. This lower performance helps keep the device cool during gaming sessions, but it does affect frame rate. Battery life, on the other hand, is excellent, lasting a full day on a single charge. The phone also supports SuperVOOC fast charging, although it may not charge as quickly as expected.

Despite a few drawbacks, the OPPO Find N3 Flip is a solid foldable smartphone, particularly for those who prioritize camera quality.
