Shreyas Talpade initially gained fame for his role in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Iqbal, and subsequently took on supporting roles in films like Om Shanti Om, the Housefull franchise, and the Golmaal franchise. Reflecting on his career, Shreyas expressed pride in his choices. When questioned about any regrets regarding taking on supporting roles instead of lead roles, Shreyas shared that working with Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan was a dream come true for him.
“I don’t view those films as mistakes (Om Shanti Om, Housefull, Golmaal) because they were during a time when I was brand new to the industry,” he told Bollywood Bubble. Shreyas emphasized that getting the opportunity to work with director Farah Khan and actor Shah Rukh Khan “was a huge thing for a guy like me” and at that stage in his career, he “felt that this is the thing that I want to do right now.”
Shreyas portrayed SRK’s best friend in the film and mentioned that even 16 years later, people still appreciate their chemistry. “The chemistry of those two friends is still talked about (in Om Shanti Om). I don’t think it was a mistake in any way, and neither do I regret my decisions,” he said. He added that he was ready to jump on board, no matter what the role was. “I said whatever the role is, I will do that,” he said.

Regarding Golmaal, Shreyas expressed that the gags from the film are still circulated in Reels and memes, and in that sense, the film’s “reach has been phenomenal”, which has also benefitted him. He emphasized that he took up Golmaal because he “loved the story” and “wanted to be a part of the franchise.”

Shreyas mentioned that despite the perceptions others might have had about his career as a result of taking up supporting roles and not getting many leading parts, his ratio of hits to flops is still impressive. He recently underwent a medical procedure after suffering a heart attack in Mumbai, but he is now in stable condition.
