We’re not thrilled about the upcoming Google Play Store search tweak

The Play Store may soon have a dedicated search tab, replacing the current search bar at the top. The GApps and Leaks Telegram group discovered evidence of this potential change, including a screenshot showcasing the new search tab. This tab would be accessible via a button at the bottom of the app, along with the existing tabs for apps, games, and books. The dedicated search tab is also expected to display search suggestions. It’s possible that this new search tab and page could replace the top search bar, which would require two taps to initiate a search. However, it is still unclear how this change would impact the overall user experience. In addition to this potential update, Google is also working on labeling government-affiliated apps, as evidenced by a badge that reads, “Play verified this app is affiliated with a government entity.” It remains to be seen how these changes will be implemented in the final release.
